Jim Richardson OBE
Team Rector & Vicar of St. Peter's Church (Priest-in-charge
of St. Augustin's, Cemetery Junction)
Canon Jim was appointed to Bournemouth in 1996, having
previously held posts as varied as the Vicar of Leeds,
Executive Director of the Council of Christians and
Jews, and Chaplain to the Spencer household at Althorp.
He is a Religious Education specialist, and has been
deeply involved in inter-Faith dialogue.
Here in Bournemouth he heads a team that has an active
interest in Town Centre affairs, and he himself is chair
of the Detached Youth Project, an organisation that
helps vulnerable young people.
Canon Jim headed the planning group that organised
the ecumenical Christian Celebration on Sunday 2nd January
2000, and the placing of the Millennium Candle in Bournemouth
Square.
More recently, he was instrumental in the appointment
of Diana Greenfield as a Church Army Evangelist for
the Bournemouth nightclub scene. Diana has since moved
on to now work and has been replaced as Nightclub Chaplain
by Jon Oliver (jon@clubchaplain.com)
Canon Richardson was awarded the OBE in the 2006 New Year's Honours list - for services to the Church of England.
He is Chair of the Bournemouth Borough Council
Standards Board.
